Hello!

My name is Ville Kuvaja.

About me

I'm a generalist game developer. I'm mostly a programmer but I also really enjoy making both 2D and 3D art, animation and effects.

I'm also a web developer. Mostly frontend. I have some experience in backend, but not yet enough that I would call myself a full stack developer. I'm eager to learn more!

Also I am a visualist and a creative coder. I'm constantly tinkering on my own experimental VJ and art applications.

Some days I even have the hubris to call myself an artist.

Koko.Do Games

From 2022 to 2025 I worked as a game developer at Koko.Do Games. We worked on two mobile games: Taskumetsä and Squirrel Fall.

Taskumetsä is a cozy casual educational game where the player is the owner of a small forest. In their forest the player can plant trees, forage for plants and berries, build a house and interact with the inhabitants of the forest.

Squirrel Fall is a very small casual game about a squirrel making daring leaps from tree to tree hoarding pinecones.

Unfortunately, Koko.Do Games is facing difficult times due to lack of funding. There is plenty of plans for more content for both games. The future is uncertain but all hope is not lost!

Taskumetsä was released for Android and iPhone (though, currently unavailable in the Apple store) Squirrel Fall was released for Android.

Both games were made in Unity.

My roles: programming, game design, 2D/3D asset creation, implementing animations, assets and UI and even sound design

Personal projects

Like most developers I too have several unfinished personal projects and technical prototypes stashes away on my computer.

Here's a small selection of them:

There's a clear pattern here: I love to dick around with game engine physics!

Freelance work

Heureka

Heureka is a science center in Vantaa, Finland. I remember going there several times as a kid way back in the 90's. It's a wonderful place!

I had the absolute joy and privilege to get to work on two game installations for their Our Journey in Space exhibition.

Both projects were made in Unity.

My roles: programming, 3D asset creation, animations, implementing the UI

Art

I've been a creative coder and a hobbyist VJ for almost 20 years now. I'm extremely lucky to have cool musician friends who have invited me to do visuals for their shows.

During these years I've created several experimental VJ applications. Here are a few examples of music videos I've created with them:

That's all for now.

Thank you for your time!
